Yep, it's still winter!

Pretty as it is when we have a fresh snowfall, it is still winter!

So, I am keeping myself busy indoors.  I have a book I read at night before I go to bed, with a nice warm cup of tea.  Reading is very relaxing.

Still working on the '365', and the RSC.  And, I started another project, a churn dash.  Good for using up smaller pieces of material.

It's fun and it's fast.  I am having fun going through my stash and matching up the materials.

The girls met at my friend Marilyn's house for some sewing time yesterday.  I always enjoy our time together, but I should remember to take some pictures of our projects.  Vera brought some yummy cookies to share with us, which we really enjoyed.

I have been on a soup kick lately.  We have gone through a pot of Italian Meatball, Split Pea, and Beef Barley soup.  I usually have a bowl for lunch, and sometimes we have it for dinner with a salad.  So good when it is cold outside.

A visit with a friend

Hi everyone,

My husband was out of town for the day so I went over to a friend's house for a little visit.  We had some tea and chatted for awhile.  It was quite nice just to pass the time with a friend.

I finished my Valentin's Day place mats today, that's one more job done.

I made a set of four

I saw a pretty postcard online the other day.  I do wish I could make some of these.  I have never tried although I have looked at a couple of tutorials from time to time.  I am going to have to get brave and just do it!
I don't think it could be that difficult, but do these things actually go through the mail like this?  I'm at a loss.

I've been feeding the birds, I find they are so fun to watch.

So, that was my day, how was yours.

So here I am!

So here I am, and it's still winter!  It was a little bit warmer today though so I went out.  I met a girlfriend in town and had lunch.  Then we visited a couple of resale shops but neither of us got much.  I did pick up some more batting and some material for a border, and a couple of birthday cards.

I got 6 more of my '365' circle blocks done while I watched TV last night.  I watched Criminal Minds, it's always pretty good.

I am working on this quilt:
This is the one I picked up the border fabric for.
Also working on some new place mats for Valentines Day.

I'll try and get t hem quilted tonight.

That's it for today my friends, keep on sewin and stay warm!

Meet my Biscuit

Brrrr, it is still super cold.  It's suppose to be in the 20's during the day, for the next few days.  I'm not going out if I don't have to.  Didn't go to yoga this morning, the room they have it in is not very well heated.

So I thought I would introduce you to our little biscuit today.  He is a little Chihuahua mix and he doesn't like the cold either!  My girlfriend and I had gone to our shelter to play with the kitties, and as luck would have it, (or not) they had just brought him in.  He was picked up downstate and held for 2 weeks,  No one claimed him and they were going to put him to sleep.  So our shelter rescued him, and then.....I rescued him!

 Isn't he cute, sort of?
 And Hubby adores him!

We do have other pets, and he just fit right in and took to my husband right away.  We get all of our pets at the shelter, feels so good to save a life.

On the quilting front, I needed to get something accomplished today so I dug through my wip's and brought out these rows.  Don't know how long they have been in there, but I sewed them together and added borders and now I have a flimsy to quilt.

Well what do you know, there's Biscuit! ha ha ha.  I also made another pinwheel for the 'RQC' (that's short for the Rainbow Quilt Challenge), and made a few more circles for the '365'.  I am enjoying that as it is relaxing to do a little hand sewing while I watch TV.

So that was my day, how was your?

Scrap Happy Saturday - and other news.

Well, it's another "scrapp happy Saturday" over at "so scrappy".  The color is still blue and purple.  Take a peek over there to see what everyone is doing.  Here's my progress.

In other quilting news, we had our quilt guild meeting on Wednesday.  We always break for lunch  and this time we went to Buscilli's and got the pizza and salad buffet.  Oh let me tell you, it was good.

After that I did some shopping and came home.

I have one more row to sew on a quilt I am working on, then I will snap a photo of it.

Worked on my '365' challenge, several more circles sewn,  Also went thru mu scrap box and cut out more.  Those will last me awhile.

Got my other Valentine table toppers done.  I'll show you one, but I can't show you the other because she will see it.

It is still cold here, in the 20's and suppose to be like that all week.  So hubby and I are going to the show tonight.  Going to see the
Revenant.  Hope it is good.  If not I know the popcorn will be!

Valentine's Projects

Time to start on the Valentine's Day projects!

I had shown you the start of the Dresden Plate table topper.  Here it is finished with flowers on top.

And here is my table runner for the coffee table.
(sorry it's blurry)

Next I guess I will have to make a couple for gifts for the girls.

Hubby was nice and picked up Chinese food for dinner, yummy.  That always hit's the spot.

The weather turned cold, like 7 - 13 degrees cold.  Brrrr.  Also had a few inches of new snow.  Looks like winter has arrived.

Give Away and Rainbow Quilt Challenge

Well I have been busy making blocks for the Rainbow Quilt Challenge over at 'soscrappy'.  The color is blue and purple this this month.  I haven't started on the purple yet, but here is what I have.

I am sharing this on Scrap Happy Saturday at 'soscrappy'.  Go visit and see what everyone else is doing.

I am also making a Dresden Plate table topper for Valentines Day that will look pretty with a bouquet of flowers sitting on it.  Also I'm in the process of making a table runner that will. match.

But let's get on to the important thing - the "Give Away".  Hubby draws a number.
and the number is.....

Number 3, which is Quilting Babcia from Amity Quilts!  so Congrats to you, it will be mailed as soon as I get the info.  Here's what she won! Three 1/2 yard pieces.

Keep on quilting ladies!

It's Cold!

I left Monday morning for the doctors.  It was 17 degrees in the garage!  Once on the open road it was actually 12 degrees. Brrrrr.  Tuesday was no better.  I left for my yoga class and it was 13.  Whew, today was a little better, it actually got up to around 30.  Felt like a heat wave.

My Granddaughter had a good time when she went out to her boyfriends place to visit.  She was surprised that they had horses and she even got to go riding.  A very excited girl she was.

I have made a little progress on my "365" squares challenge that is going on at Quilty Folk.  This is fun and easy.  I make up a few at a time and sew the circles on while I watch TV.

I decided to do the windmill square for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at soscrappy.

This months color is blue and purple and I still have to make more squares.

The girls got together at my friend Marilyn's for some sewing and some talking today. Marilyn made some yummy little carrot cake cupcakes to munch on.  They hit the spot.

I had put some stuffed green peppers on to cook in the crock pot and they were ready when I got home.  Hubby really enjoyed them.

New For 2016

Hello everyone,

This year I have decided I am going to try 2 new things.  The first is the 'Rainbow Scrap Challenge' from Soscrappy.

http://frame.bloglovin.com/?post=4692019601&blog=5205385

In short, each month there is a new color and you use the color to make a favorite square, or 2 or 3.  In the end you will have enough to make a rainbow quilt.  It's not that I don't have enough to do. but this will just add one more fun thing to keep me busy.

The second thing I am going to do is from 'Quilty Folk'.

The challenge here is to make a circle every day - 365 days.  Again, in the end you have enough for a quilt.  You can start any time, I started mine today.  Mine will be mostly on black backgrounds.  Here is my first one.

So I guess I will have plenty to keep me busy.  I still have 3 more squares to do in the Block of the month that I started last year!  Eeek, I better get quilting.

So have you found any new projects for this year?

It's A New Year - And A Give Away!

Happy 2016 Everyone!

I was so surprised when I opened my present from my husband on Christmas Day.  He got me a Pandora bracelet!  He is so sweet, I didn't even have it on my Christmas list.  So now I can look forward to collecting charms for it on special occasions.

But now that the Christmas season is over it is back to the routine.  I took down the tree today and put away the decorations.

I have started on another quilt!  It is a HST quilt and I have them all cut and sewn.  They are stacked in rows ready for sewing which I will start on tomorrow.

We are having company for dinner tomorrow night.  I have a small turkey and sweet potatoes that I will serve, along with the green bean casserole. uhm, yum.

Next week is going to be busy.  I have a Dr. appt on Monday, Yoga on Tuesday, quilting with the girls on Wednesday, and a massage on Thursday.  Busy, busy busy!

So I was thinking that it would be fun to have a 'Give Away' to start off the new year.  It will be 3 - half yard pieces of material.

It will run through Saturday, January 9.  I will draw a winner and post it Sunday the 10th.  So, good luck everyone!
